Moon News: February New Moon in Pisces
Today is a New Moon! This is going to be a great New Moon in Pisces. The moon is joined in Pisces by the sun, Saturn, mercury, Neptune, and the north node tonight. Mars in Cancer, and Vesta in Scorpio will be forming a grand trine with Saturn. Lots of power in Pisces, and lots of water energy in the chart for today means it is time to dream. I highly recommend creative activity tonight that can help tap into the subconscious mind and get that water energy flowing through yourself as well. Painting, drawing, writing, dancing, or doing some divination would all be very potent. You may find yourself flooded with sudden insights or inspiration while awake, or in your actual dreams. Write your thoughts down so you can remember once the feeling of tonight has passed!
In addition to dreaming in the literal sense, you can also dream in the form of wishes tonight. A new moon means a new beginning, and the placements for tonight mean that it’s a great time to ask for a sign or make a wish and start a path toward something new in your life.
All the water energy in this moon may also be pushing you toward a cathartic release. If you’re called to watch an emotional movie and get some tears out then by all means do that too! It is a night for feeling hard rather than thinking hard, and its okay to feel whatever feelings come up.
If you’re doing ritual tonight, it could be great to incorporate water into your workings to mirror the sky. Above all, follow your intuition. I’ve attached a ritual bath option on the next page for those who feel inclined.
A couple other upcoming things in the sky to keep in mind would be the lunar eclipse next month on the 13th, and the Venus retrograde which starts on March 1st in Aries, and ends on April 12 in Pisces. After this new moon we are officially in the eclipse season, and the energy of that time will start to come through. It will be an especially important time for doing shadow work and getting stronger as a practitioner and a person. The Venus retrograde in Aries may feel a bit rough, or heightened emotionally for romantic relationships but it won’t last forever. When Venus enters Pisces on March 27, even in retrograde things will start to smooth out and feel intuitive.
New Moon Ritual Bath for Insight
Supplies: bath additives 1*, black candle, indigo candle, journal and writing instrument (optional: meditation music)
1. Cleanse your bathing space or cast your circle there as you normally would.
2. Draw your bath with warm water, and add in your selected additions 2* . If you would like to play some meditative music, drums, or frequencies in the background, turn them on.
3. Light your black candle, and say “The moon is dark. The moon is new. I am in touch. I am in tune.”
4. Light your indigo candle and say “I see. I know. I feel. I am. Under this moon I understand.”
5. Get into the bath, and allow yourself to relax. Close your eyes. Listen to your music, or the sound of your breath, and let yourself fall into the rhythm of just breathing and being. Allow ideas to bubble to the surface, and let them drift away. You can stay in the bath as long as you like.
6. When you are ready, come back to yourself by wiggling your toes and fingers, then move up the rest of your body, then open your eyes. Get out of the bath, and dry your hands, and write in your journal before doing anything else. You can write ideas you had while in the bath, or just let them flow out now. It's even okay to write down nonsense, just write quickly and fill up some space with words. Date your entry and sign it at the end.
7. After you’re done writing, remember to clean out your added bath elements and don’t let anything go down the drain that will clog your plumbing.
8. Close your journal, close your circle, and head to bed for a good night's sleep. Keep your journal close by the bed in case you have any dreams that need written down. In the morning, after you’ve woken up and had something to eat, you can review what you wrote, and see what it means to you under the light of a new day.
1* Some suggestions would be milk, lavender, epsom salts, amethyst or quartz crystals. Anything that will make you feel relaxed and open while you soak.
2* If you don’t have an actual tub to soak in, you can get a similar effect by finding a comfortable sitting position in a warm shower.
